Knowledge Requirements:

Ability to read and write, do basic math including: add, subtract, multiply and divide at 12th grade level, ability to read basic blueprints, knowledge of electronic hardware installation, understand and follow verbal and written directions.

Training/Skill Requirements:

High school graduate or equivalent.  Verbal communication (in person/radio) in English.  Abliity to read blueprint, use/read tape measure.  Independent worker with good organizational skills. RDF provides special training to meet job requirements.  Must be Union Member.

Degree of Supervision Required:

Minimal supervision; reports to Foreman.  Receives work instructions from Foreman.

Essential Job Tasks: Performs finish carpentry work:

  • Prepares wood materials for installation: measures, saws, lifts.
  • Installs wood materials, eg, doors, paneling, windows, hardware.
  • Installs cabinets.
  • Builds and installs railings, wood frames, molding.
  • Assists with area cleanup.
  • May also assist laborer and other carpenters.  May rotate finish carpenter jobs; one day measures/saws wood materials and next day may install wood materials.
  • Works all shifts, including varying shifts, extended hours, overtime.
  • Assists with problem solving.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.

Primary Physical Requirements:

Requires frequent standing, interspersed with walking 8 hours/day while perfoming essential job tasks and while wearing a toll belt weighing 12 - 15 pounds.  Lifts and carries up to 150 pounds when installing a door and may carry 110 pounds of lumber, wood base bundles, plywood, tools up to 200'. Climbs up/down ladders; goes up/down stairs; scissor/aerial lifts 20 - 30 times a day.  Requires frequent use of hands, fingers, wrists, arms, shoulders, back, legs and feet.  Performs work while standing on ground, ladder, rolling, scaffolding, safety harness or scissor/aerial lift.  Works primarily indoors with exposure to moving objects: eg trucks, crane, forklift, backhoe.  Requires depth perception to climb ladders, to build/install wood materials.  Requires ability to hear and communicate in English.

Tools, Equipment, Machines, Vehicles used as part of job:

Uses power tools, hand tools, saws, door installer, chop box, nail guns, compressor, scissor/aerial lifts, 2 way radios.


Demonstrates knowledge and compliance with all company safety policies and procedures.  Ensures and contributes to a safe environment for customers and employees; keeps current with and adheres to OSHA and safety training requirements.  Must wear safety glasses, safety harness, hard hat, hearing protection, respriatory protection when needed. May wear rubber boots, gloves,knee pads.
